"she stood with her burdens placed beneath her feet." --caitlin connolly art
she had been waiting
for someone
to take the burdens
from her back
not knowing
she could place
them
beneath her feet
and
climb.
your back is made for wings;
not burdens.
i gave you building blocks
you didn't recognize.
to build.
build you.
build you up
not burden you.
it is there.
scaffolding,
skeletal wings.
i am
adding feathers
as you are
subtracting fears.
let me move through you
fill you.
breathe in
allow me to fill all the spaces.
if you are bowed down
you have no movement
to flap your wings.
i am raising you
as an artist
who can see
wings
where others only see air.
march proudly
over what you called burdens
and i called blocks
toward me.
up.
higher.
and when you reach me
fly.
Needed this. Thank you!
