The word that keeps coming to me is "rebirth." We have just experienced a difficult time of death, but I know that this is an opportunity for me to have a rock solid testimony of "rebirth." My kids and I went with my parents to the Carl Bloch exhibit Monday. Absolutely beautiful. (It was great to learn that Carl Bloch and my third great grandfather actually attended the Royal Danish Academy of Art at the same time). I have a different pair of eyes now, and I see the Resurrection in a whole new light. I see the sadness of death in a different light as well.
At the end there was a beautiful picture of the Savior bursting from the tomb in victory. We had rented the ipads and there was a snippet by Elder Holland from his Broken Vessel talk. I sat down and listened to it over and over:
" I bear witness of that day when loved ones whom we knew to have disabilities in mortality will stand before us glorified and grand, breathtakingly perfect in body and mind. What a thrilling moment that will be! I do not know whether we will be happier for ourselves that we have witnessed such a miracle or happier for them that they are fully perfect and finally “free at last.” 12 Until that hour when Christ’s consummate gift is evident to us all, may we live by faith, hold fast to hope, and show “compassion one of another. . .”
free at last.
rebirthed.
Free at last is right. Honestly, what a lovely way to think of it.
